December 16, HBIS inaugurated its world’s first hydrogen metallurgy green automotive sheet continuous cast production line in HBIS ZXHT. HBIS Secretary of CPC, Chairman Yu Yong attended this ceremony and made the announcement of the inauguration.
The new project is the real practice of implementation of Carbon Peaking & Neutrality goal and the requirement of Hebei Provence by new short term craft of hydrogen shaft furnace in EAF -- near zero carbon emission, which has accelerated green and low carbon transformation and provided a better solution for sustainable development for steel industry, and which is to committed to build a flagship and benchmark of green & low carbon transformation in industry and also show Chinese steel industry’s practise and mission in leading the global industry evolution.

10:36AM, Yu Yong announced the inauguration of the world’s first hydrogen metallurgy green automotive sheet project and the red hot sheets rolled off the 1900mm production line, showing the line into the production stage, presented HBIS had the new achievements in building a benchmark demonstration of green & low carbon transformation in the industry and even in the country, and once again demonstrated the HBIS resolve and actions to implement the goal of "carbon reduction".
After the ceremony, Yu Yong inspected the green continuous casting line and Special Bar production line. During the ceremony, HBIS ZXHT executives presented the construction and operation of the hydrogen metallurgy green automotive sheet project.
After December 16, 2022 success completion of World’s first 1.2 million-ton hydrogen metallurgy pilot plant first phase and March 29, 2024 commencement of the country’s first hydrogen based shaft furnace- near zero carbon short process technology and applications, the production of the project is a new milestone the and green transformation and HBIS has realized the full chain of the green automotive plate process route, which highlights the pragmatic actions and innovation demonstration of China's steel industry that continues to lead the green and low-carbon development of the world's steel industry.
The new facility integrated the world’s latest resources and MCC CERI, Primetals equipment and technologies, building a 1900mm single strip continuous casting equipment, with an annual capacity of 1.5million tons of high end and green low carbon automotive sheets. HBIS has been engaging major clients including BMW and Green Wall Automobile, building a full green low carbon supply chain. It shows steel mills could collaborate with automakers to deliver high end, green, light weight and final market materials and comprehensive client application solutions. Next, HBIS will explore new opportunities in green and low carbon transformation and develop core technologies in low carbon emission steel and the certification applications to embrace the global green automotive steel market, and will build a green and low carbon steel industrial chain to provide better solutions to the sustainable development world steel industry.
